“Our son will eventually transition back to the public school, but for now, Y.A.L.E. is giving him the solid foundation to build on in order to be successful." — Steven and Caroline H.
Learning to successfully interact with others is one of the most important aspects of special education at The Y.A.L.E. School.
Throughout the day, our staff engages students in activities designed to teach and practice social skills and social problem solving.
Our integrated classroom-based model for mental health and behavioral services emphasizes self-monitoring and self-management—skills critical to improving a student’s social and emotional competencies. Some students receive direct instruction in social skills. Group and individual counseling are also available.
Our formative assessment process allows teachers and professionals to identify the cause of each student’s social and emotional difficulties, and tailor instruction accordingly.
